Comprehensive Therapy and Educational Services
Occupational Therapy is treatment designed to maximize a person's skills and abilities to participate in activities of daily life. The term "occupational" refers to activities that occupy a person's time, thus, Occupational Therapy addresses a wide range of skills. Occupational Therapy at Family Connections Center focuses on helping children reach their full potential in a variety of developmental areas. Our Occupational Therapists follow a neurological approach when designing treatment plans. It is critical that all systems that make up the nervous system work in an organized and coordinated way so a child can participate successfully in classroom, playground, community, and home environments.
Occupational Therapists at Family Connections Center specialize in evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties with performance of daily living activities in the areas of self care, feeding/eating, play, and learning due to a wide range of disorders. A Licensed Occupational Therapist will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to determine areas of need and design a treatment program aimed at improving functional skills. Examples of Occupational Therapy programs include:
Feeding and Dysphagia
Gross Motor Development
Fine Motor Development
Sensory Integration and Modulation
Self Care Routines
Handwriting
Visual Perceptual Skills
Motor Planning and Postural Control
Orthotics
A physician's referral for occupational therapy will initiate the treatment process. Therapy services are available by appointment. Sessions range in length and frequency. Contact us to schedule an evaluation.
